The State of the Nation
Last updated on November 27, 2021
The State of the Nation should have us all concerned. Every day the Nation descends further into chaos and anarchy. Looters are breaking into stores and stealing everything they can in broad daylight. Protestors continue to loot and burn. The legal system turns a blind eye to the mayhem. Cities across the country have seen more murders than in decades. It is time we ask the question, What is going on, and why is this happening?
There are so many issues where the country remains extremely divided. It would appear there is no middle ground on any issue, and we have resorted to violence and intimidation to get across our point of view rather than use reasoning and logic. We are unable to accept compromise or allow for differences of opinion. We speak up and out, but it seems no one is listening.
Those we expect to listen the most march to a different drum. Our elected officials pretend during their campaigns to hear us. They even parrot back to us our own words, but when they get into a position of power, it would seem the only words they hear are those coming from lobbyists and wealthy donors. Neither of whom lives the lives the rest of us live.
We err in voting these same people back into office to continue to do as they please, ignoring our pleas, our cries for help, and ignorant of our desperation. Yes, we can continue to blame them. We can call them corrupt and many other things, but who is really at fault. It has been said that the definition of insanity is to perform the same actions repeatedly while expecting a different result. Maybe it is time we recognize we are insane, sending the same people back into power time and time again. Perhaps we would be better off sending a new devil rather than the devil we know. You can never be sure. The new devil may turn out to be an angel, and if not, we find a new devil again until finally, we find an angel.
