2020 Policy IssuesAMP

Last updated on June 16, 2020

While it may seem as if the 2020 Election is still a long way off, the media is anxious to get us involved, as are a growing number of potential candidates.  Every day the news is filled with the latest comments from the already announced candidates and those still contemplating entering the race.  All of the early caucus and primary states are being blanketed by the candidates to make sure their name gets out there and is hopefully remembered come polling day.  And already the candidates are throwing out any number of perceived policy issues/concerns to see the reaction of the public.  They want to know what is on our mind and what will motivate us to take that short or long drive to the polls to cast a vote.

The problem is, however, they are taking their guidance from the media and not from the voters.  I fully intend to remain as non-partisan on this website as I possibly can but I certainly do not want the press speaking for me or determining what is important to me.  Perhaps my political radar is defective so I would like to engage your help in determining what is important, which issues/policies would you like the candidates to push as part of their agenda?  What piques your interest enough to encourage you to get out to vote in the primaries?  What are you going to be looking for in a candidate?

To get us started in the discussion, I have devised a short poll of some of the topics I have heard being espoused by the candidates.  Please take a moment to provide your response.  If there are other issues you would like to see included in a poll, please let me know.  I will publish the results each week, so be sure to come back.

Should Legislators push forward with Single Payer Health Care?
Should the Legislators move forward on the Green New Deal?
Should the Number of Supreme Court Justices be Changed?
Should the Electoral College be Abolished or Modified to reflect the Popular vote?

I have long held the belief voting is one of the most important rights we are afforded under the Constitution.  Yet every election I see only a small percentage of those with this right actually voting.  This is the right and the mechanism our founding fathers gave us to protect all of our other rights.  It is imperative we exercise this right.  It is for this reason I began this website.
