Change Through ParticipationAMP

Last updated on March 21, 2020

There is strength in numbers. I am sure you have heard this before and nowhere is it truer than in the political process.  We all want a better world, especially for our children and grandchildren, but the direction we see the world moving in today is not indicative of a better world.  In fact, it looks rather a dismal future for our descendants.  There will be greater debt for them to assume, greater expense for housing, education, food, and energy.  Probably more pollutants and greater uncertainty.  Is this what we intend?

Certainly not, but despite the promises of our elected politicians our world continues to move with certainty in this direction.  We here at GetOutToVote.org are convinced we can change this but it requires greater participation by our citizenry.  If more of us get out to vote and participate in the political process, we believe the politicians will be forced to pay closer attention to our voice.  They will be more prone to take notice of how the citizens would like for them to act in their elected positions.  They will be more cognizant when enacting legislation of ensuring it reflects our desires.  Through greater participation and exercising our right to vote, we can exert much or more pressure than the lobby machinery and big interest.

If, however, we stand idly by, believing our vote is of no importance, then we can expect more of the same.  More legislation that does not address the core issue society faces.  More gridlock where nothing is accomplished by our elected officials.  More false promises and idle talk where nothing is really said of importance.  More of the same faces in our capitols.

If you are tired, fed up and frustrated with hearing the same infighting every newscast and seeing nothing happen to change outcomes, then it is important you get involved in the process.  Get to know your representatives in government, attend town meetings, write letters, express your views and most importantly Get Out To Vote.

I have long held the belief voting is one of the most important rights we are afforded under the Constitution.  Yet every election I see only a small percentage of those with this right actually voting.  This is the right and the mechanism our founding fathers gave us to protect all of our other rights.  It is imperative we exercise this right.  It is for this reason I began this website.
